My first experience with physiotherapy TLDR; i am unimpressed

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share my experience with the physiotherapist today. It’s not like I entered the room with high expectations but I am thoroughly disappointed with the session and I feel like it was waste of my time.

A short background about me. I am very active and fit individual in mid 20s. I am very much conscious about posture, mobility and flexibility in my daily life. I dedicate 10-15 min stretch sessions after each workout. This includes static stretches for shoulder and wrists, vertical and side splits, glute bridges and various yoga poses … you get the point. Now overtime, my lower back started to feel super tight to a point where it will bother me during the day. If I sit for more than 30 minutes, I would feel this uncomfortable burning sensations around my waist and lower back. It gets better after standing up and wiggling it out. I also had an injury recently where I was hanging from a pullup bar for about a minute and when I landed, the impact of falling somehow messed up my lowerback and I couldn’t stand upright for few minutes. Followed by another injury while doing a full bridge where I think I hyperextended my lower back again. So what the hell, I decided to go for physiotherapy and see whats up.

We had 30 minute session. My physiotherapist asked few question about my history. He tested my balance on each leg. Then he made me lie down on the bed and moved my leg around in different poses. No pain, no discomfort on my side. But he kept commenting “That feels tight”. I am thinking “uhhh no bro, you can press down harder. I am totally fine”. Whenever he asked if there is pain, my answer was no. And when he asked if I felt tightness, I answered no. His final comment was that my hip flexors are tight. At this point, I am totally disappointed. This guy is just making shit up or has generic answer to all his clients that he likes to parrot. I was gonna show him right there on the floor that I could do a full pancake with my chest touching the ground but it was not worth my time. He then highly suggested acupuncture for my upcoming sessions and that’s when I pretty much lost my shit. He ended with demonstrating 3 exercises that everyone and their mom would know. I would have had a better time with RMT massaging my lower back than listen to this dipshit.

I don’t know. I know I am full of shit but how is this any beneficial to anybody. It’s not like we don’t have access to youtube where you could look up rehab/prehab exercises. I don’t know what I was expecting but this was definitely not it.
